About the owner
More than 40 years of sewing experience
My name is Charlise Smith, owner of Snip N Sew Alterations & Custom Sewing. I began sewing in the sixth grade, and what started as an early interest became a lifelong passion.
I bring more than 40 years of sewing experience to the work I do. I am self-taught and developed my skills through practice, patience, observation, problem-solving, and completing many different sewing projects over the years.
My experience includes clothing alterations, garment repairs, hemming, zipper and button replacement, body measurements, custom sewing, embroidery, T-shirt design, and helping customers find practical solutions for garments that need a better fit or a new purpose.
At Snip N Sew, each customer receives personal attention. My goal is to provide careful workmanship, honest communication, and sewing services that help customers feel comfortable and confident in what they wear.

Sewing classes are offered for ages 5–12 and ages 13 and up. Classes are held on Saturdays, and class times vary by session. Pricing varies by age group and will be confirmed during registration.

Before your appointment
Should I wash my garment before an alteration?
Yes, when appropriate. Washing first helps reduce the chance of the garment shrinking after the alteration is complete.
What should I bring to a fitting?
Bring the garment, the shoes and undergarments you plan to wear with it, and any inspiration photos or special instructions.
Can I receive a price before the appointment?
A general estimate may be possible by text, but the final price is usually confirmed after the garment and requested work are reviewed.
How do I place a custom T-shirt order?
Use the T-shirt order form on this website to enter sizes, quantities, colors, design notes, and your contact information.
